COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Two people were seriously injured early Sunday in what Coldwater Police described as a bloody brawl near a downtown bar. Two men from Hillsdale County arrested for allegedly beating three people during the fight and were arraigned Sunday in Branch County District Court on felonious assault charges.
Coldwater City Police say they were called around 3:00 a.m. yesterday to respond to an altercation in progress on Walnut Street, not far from the Chicago Street Pub, the bar where the suspects were at Saturday night. According to police, 3 witnesses to the incident who lived on Walnut Street told officers they saw the suspects push a woman down onto the pavement, and they attempted to come to her aid. That’s when the fracas ensued.
Police say the victims were struck in the head with a brick, with two of them knocked unconscious. Officers also reported that a trail of blood on the pavement led them to where they located the suspects about a block away on Jackson Street.
All 3 victims were treated and released from the hospital in Coldwater for their injuries, which included a broken jaw and eye socket.
22-year old Tyler Lovell of Pittsford and 21-year old Kyle Macey of Jonesville were released from the Branch County Jail Sunday after posting bonds of $25,000 and are scheduled to return to District Court for a probable cause hearing March 29, 2018.
