COLDWATER MI (WTVB) – The lap pool at the Dr Robert W. Browne Aquatic Center in Coldwater has been drained and repairs are expected to begin Thursday.
Aquatic Center Director Buzz Sharpley says they should know by next Tuesday how long the shutdown will last.
Superintendent Terry Boguth told the Coldwater Community Schools Board of Education last November that a spot had been located in the lap pool. It was temporarily patched but it was decided at that time to take further measures when the high school swim season ended.
The pool had to be drained Tuesday in order to see if there are any other problems.
The therapy pool was closed last September due to a problem with the pool’s plaster surface delaminating, thus making it unusable. The contractor wound up having to re-plaster that pool.
The company which installed the lap pool will be responsible for repairs since it was under warranty.
Those who wish to freeze their membership while repairs are made to the lap pool can call (517) 279-5920.
