COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch Intermediate School District Board of Education formally approved a three year contract Wednesday with Kristine Jenkins to take over as the district’s next Superintendent.
Under terms of the contract, her annual salary will be just over $123,000.
The Board unanimously agreed three weeks ago to offer the position to Jenkins who has been serving as the Calhoun Intermediate School District Assistant Superintendent.
Board chair Ken Norton said they worked out the contract with Jenkins during a couple of meetings.
Her first day on the job will be July 1, 2018. Jenkins will take over for Joe Lopez who will be retiring at the end of July.
She had been the Assistant Superintendent of Regional Career and Technical Education for the Calhoun Intermediate School District for the past 14 years. Before that, Jenkins worked in the Tekonsha Community School district as an Elementary Principal, grant writer and teacher.
Jenkins holds a Masters degree in K-12 Educational Leadership from Michigan State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education from Eastern Michigan University.
Jenkins was one of 15 who applied for the job.
