COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The health department in Branch County has received a boost in meeting the health care needs of low income residents.
The Branch County Community Foundation recently granted $347,032.83 to the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Health Agency. The funds came from a federal program that was started in 2004. When the federal program ended in 2014, the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph-Lenawee Health Plan was closed and all remaining funds were held by the Branch County Community Foundation until they could be dispersed.
The funds were given out in accordance to the Grant Agreement to the Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Health Agency, along with five other agencies in Lenawee County.
The granted dollars are to be used for serving the health care needs of low income or medically underserved residents of Branch, Hillsdale, and St. Joseph counties.
