EAST LANSING, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan High School Athletic Association announced its school classifications for the upcoming 2018-19 school year, with a big change in how the classifications will be used.
The traditional classifications will be used only for MHSAA elections and in football for playoff purposes – in 11-player to determine playoff point values and in 8-player to determine if a school is eligible to compete in the Playoffs, as only Class D schools can compete in the 8-player football postseason.
In all other sports, including volleyball and basketball for the first time, tournaments will be conducted with schools in equal or nearly equal divisions.
