COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan Department of Transportation has announced that the resurfacing of almost ten miles of U.S. 12 between Coldwater and Bronson will start April 30, 2018.
It’s estimated the $2.3 million project will conclude by July 30, 2018.
The Indiana Northeastern Railroad bridge will be removed as part of the project.
MDOT says the project will give motorists a smoother ride and improved safety. The removal of the bridge will also eliminate icing of the bridge before the roadway. Lowering the existing hill by two feet will also improve sight distance.
One lane will be open under flag control during the resurfacing but a portion of U.S. 12 will be closed when the bridge is removed.
The detour route will be Snow Prairie Road to M-86 to U.S. 12.
