QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – A Quincy Township man who was badly burned Thursday morning in a house fire on U.S. 12 just east of Quincy has passed away in Kalamazoo at Bronson Methodist Hospital’s Burn Unit.
81-year-old Lydell G. Lyons died Thursday, but the information wasn’t released until this weekend, pending the notification of family members. Lyons was flown to the hospital after Quincy firefighters found him near a couch and pulled him from the burning house.
The fire was reported just after 2:00 a.m. Thursday by a woman who lived at the residence. She was later treated for slight burns and smoke inhalation.
Quincy Fire Chief Michael Sherman says the fire appears to have started in the living room but it was not suspicious.
Sherman says four dogs were killed in the fire.
A visitation to celebrate the life of Lydell G. Lyons will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 6:00 p.m.-8:00 p.m. at the Eagle Funeral Home George White Chapel in Quincy. Interment will be held at a later date in Sunset View Cemetery in Jonesville.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Branch County Humane Society. A full obituary is available here
