COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An all-volunteer tax-exempt non-profit providing aid in Branch County to the foster care community is moving forward after its February opening.
Foster Closet of Michigan’s Branch County chapter offers new and like new clothing and supplies to any foster family. It’s located in Coldwater at 200 Orleans Blvd. in the former Pines Behavioral building, which is also home to the local Great Start Collaborative.
Sheila Taylor, who helped organize and manages the Coldwater branch of the Foster Closet along with Great Start, spoke at yesterday’s meeting of the Coldwater Noon Rotary Club. She said usually the foster kids using the Closet begin with no clothes to speak of, or ill-fitting clothes. Taylor also explained that the children get a boost to their self-esteem when they go to school wearing the new and updated clothing.
If you would like to donate gently used or new clothing, the Foster Closet is open Monday through Friday 10:00 a.m-2:00 p.m. and by appointment.
