COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A combination of wind and ice caused by freezing rain knocked out electric power to over 500 customers in the Branch County area Sunday.
As of early afternoon, Consumers Energy reported 31,492 customers system-wide were without power. That included 506 in Branch County, 3,494 in Calhoun County, 1,234 in Hillsdale County and 15 in St. Joseph County.
The biggest area in Branch County was in southeast of Coldwater Lake in Kinderhook Township. According to the Consumers Energy Outage Map, power is expected to be restored by 11:00 p.m. Sunday.
WDIV-TV reported that 110,000 DTE Energy customers in the Detroit area were without power Sunday due to the ice storm.
