FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – The death of a man whose body was found Friday by workers at the Trine State Recreation Area off of Feather Valley Road in Steuben County has been determined to be a homicide.
An autopsy was conducted Sunday and the result was determined by Steuben County Coroner William Harter.
Investigators are working to identify the victim, a process that Indiana State Police say could take up to several weeks.
Authorities have not released information on how the man was killed. It’s also not known how long the body had been on the state property.
Park employees immediately contacted Indiana Conservation Officers who, along with the Indiana State Police and the Fremont Fire Department, responded to the scene.
This a joint investigation between the Indiana State Police, the Indiana Conservation Officers and the Steuben County Coroner’s Office.
