COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The huge spread of human trafficking in Michigan and across the U.S., and measures to prevent the problem, will be the subject of a meeting and film showing in Coldwater next week.
The Branch County Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition Monday evening will be presenting the documentary “Break The Chain” at the First Baptist Church in Coldwater. The church is providing a free dinner at 5:30 p.m. and then the film about victims from Michigan will begin at 7:00 p.m..
The Coalition recently began a “Soap for Hope” project which included putting labels with the anti-human trafficking hotline number on hotel size soaps for placement in Coldwater area motel rooms.
Due to corporate policies, only two of the local motels were able to take them, but two others put the labels on their own soaps. The 6 motels also agreed to participate this week in the Coalition’s anti-human trafficking training for their staffs.
The training and the soap project as well as next Monday’s dinner and film showing have all been paid for with a grant from the Branch County Community Foundation.
