BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys golf team finished second at the first Interstate 8 Conference jamboree of the season Thursday at Binder Park Golf Course. Marshall won with a 166 score followed by the Cardinals with a 170 and Jackson Lumen Christi at 174.
Coldwater had balanced scoring, led by Alec Keplinger with a 41. Kyle Herman had a 42 followed by Grey Skudlarick with a 43 and Noah Waterbury with a 44.
The Cardinals will take part in the Marshall Red Hawk Invitational Friday.
Quincy recorded their third straight Big 8 Conference jamboree win at the Union City Turtle Creek Invitational. All six golfers recorded scores under 48.
The winning four scores were shot by Lawson Tell (38), Cody Smith (42), Brody Glei (44), and Drew Deaton (45). Chase Kingsbury also shot a 45.
Union City finished fifth while Bronson was sixth. Hayden Kreger led the Chargers with a 43 while Nick Collyer carded a 49. Brandon Hyska fired a 43 for the Vikings while Billy Balowski had a 47.

Coldwater took three out of four singles matches and swept the doubles in their Interstate 8 opening match. Meredith Grife won her number one singles match over Julia Miklusicak 6-1, 6-0, number three singles Merlyn Johnson defeated Julianne Gilley 6-2, 6-3 and number four singles Loveleen Lalia defeated Jordyn Eyre 6-1, 6-1.
Coldwater swept all the doubles. Number one doubles Samantha Youse/Gabby Boston defeated Lauren Saxton/Kelsey Coger 6-1, 6-0, number two doubles Melissa Vozar/Faith Herendeen defeated Sara Gerber/Cayla Orns 6-2, 6-4, number three doubles Payton Molnar/Mikaela Daoud defeated Arayia Robbins/Emily Reed 6-0, 6-1 and number four doubles Amber Aguirre/Mae Blansit defeated Hannah Zeithammel/Kaysey Barnes 6-0, 6-1.
Coldwater hosts Parma Western Monday and Jackson Northwest Thursday.
Coldwater’s JV tennis team defeated Pennfield 4-2.
