COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Portage, Michigan man was sentenced Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a guilty plea to an amended count of attempted third degree criminal sexual conduct which involved a June 2015 incident with a 14-year-old girl.
23-year-old Adam Lee Halsey was given a 330 day jail sentence with credit for 182 days already served.
Halsey was also placed on probation for five years. During that time, he can not possess alcohol, drugs or weapons and he can not go into any bars. He also ordered to pay almost $1,100 in fines and costs.
He entered into the plea agreement with prosecutors a week before he was scheduled to go on trial.
All three of the original charges of third degree criminal sexual conduct were dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea.
Michigan State Police investigated incidents after a complaint was filed by the teenager’s grandmother.
