COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Michigan Department of Transportation issued a news release Tuesday, confirming an earlier announcement that the resurfacing of almost ten miles of U.S. 12 between Coldwater and Bronson will start Monday., April 30
It’s anticipated work on the $2.4 million project will conclude by the end of July.
The Indiana Northeastern Railroad bridge west of Batavia Road will be removed as part of the project.
MDOT says the project will give motorists a smoother ride and improved safety. In addition, the removal of the bridge will also eliminate icing of the bridge before the roadway.
One lane will be open under flag control during the resurfacing but a portion of U.S. 12 will be closed when the bridge is removed and traffic will be detoured onto Snow Prairie Road and M-86.
The construction work will include the installation of concrete curbs and gutters, upgrading guardrails, improving the drainage and putting in new signs and pavement markings.
