COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The next superintendent of the Branch Intermediate School District is getting a sneak peek at her new job, which she will officially begin July 1, 2018.
Kristine Jenkins, who has been the Calhoun Intermediate School District Assistant Superintendent of Regional Career and Technical Education for the past 14 years, will be taking over for Joe Lopez, who is retiring.
Lopez said during Wednesday’s BISD Board of Education meeting that the transition period has worked out well so far. He said Jenkins has attended several meetings with him in the community in an effort to meet people.
Lopez will be ending a 36 year career in education when he retires at the end of July, but he has not gotten the feeling from the district staff that he is a so-called lame duck.
Before working for the Calhoun Intermediate School District, Jenkins was as an Elementary Principal, grant writer and teacher with Tekonsha Community Schools.
