SPRING LAKE, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, Coldwater tied St. Joseph 6-6 and lost to Spring Lake 6-0 Saturday. St. Joseph scored five runs in the sixth inning to force the tie. Austin Santure had two hits while Hunter St. Claire drove in two runs. Austin Roby struck out five in four innings of work.
The Cardinals record is now 6-11-1.
Union City won the Colon Darmofal Baseball Invitational for the fourth straight year and stretched their winning streak to eight games. They defeated Mendon 3-0 thanks to a two run homer by Larson Kever and a Colton Johns’ third shutout of the season. They then defeated Colon in the finals 10-1, Connor Elgan and Blade Gordon both had two RBI’s. Elgan, Gordon and Johns all had two hits. Gordon was also the winning pitcher.
—GIRLS SOFTBALL—
Coldwater went 2-1 and finished third at the Otsego Invitational. They lost to Orchard View 8-7 but came back to beat Plainwell 14-4 and Delton-Kellogg 10-0. Mia Rzepka was the winning pitcher against Plainwell while Darlene Horn got the win against Delton-Kellogg. Horn,
Tyler Scheid and Samatha Rodesiler all had two hits against Orchard View. Horn, Scheid and Jamie Wellet all collected two hits against Plainwell. Four Cardinals collected two hits against Delton-Kellogg. Horn wound up with six hits in the three games.
In the Coldwater J.V. girls softball tournament, the Cardinals defeated Sturgis 15-0 and then lost to Olivet 8-6 in the championship game.
Union City won the Colon Invitational as they defeated Mendon 9-3 and Colon 9-7. It’s the second straight year the Chargers won the tourney title. Quinn Adams and Allison Adams were the winning pitchers. Hope Austin had two hits and three RBI’s while Emma Elgan had two doubles and two RBI’s against Mendon. Autumn Carpenter had four hits against Colon while Quinn Adams and Kayleu Delisle both had two RBI’s.
Quincy split at the Parma Western Invite. After losing 11-1, the Orioles defeated Hanover Horton 14-3 in five innings. Kelsie Mainstone was the winning pitcher.
