MARSHALL, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School girls varsity soccer team fell behind early and wasn’t able to recover, falling in Interstate 8 Conference action Monday at Marshall 6-1. The Redhawks scored three goals in the first six minutes of the game, eventually taking a 5-0 halftime lead.
Marshall scored once more with 24 minutes to play in the game, while the Cardinals got their only goal from Carlie Wilson with one second to play in the game. OIivia Foley picked up the assist.
Nadia Kiersey made 11 saves in goal for Coldwater, as they fall to 0-4 in the conference and 1-7 overall. The Cardinals continue Interstate 8 Conference play Wednesday at Jackson Northwest.
The Coldwater JV team lost at Marshall 8-0.
Quincy followed up their Saturday night victory over Coldwater in the Battle of the Birds with a 4-2 win at Hillsdale. The Orioles scored all of their goals in the first half.
Madison Hinds scored twice giving her seven goals in the last three games. Emily Hollenbaugh and Katie Rathbun also scored for the Orioles. Goalkeeper Torri Swift made nine saves.
The Orioles are now 7-2 and will host Hanover-Horton on Wednesday.
