RIVES JUNCTION, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball Tuesday, Coldwater was swept by Jackson Northwest in an Interstate 8 doubleheader by scores of 10-4 and 10-5. Bryce Lafferty had three hits for the Cardinals while Austin Roby had two hits including a triple and two RBI’s in the opener. Lafferty had two hits in the nightcap.
The Coldwater JV team split their doubleheader with Jackson Northwest winning the opener 2-1 but losing the nightcap 14-5.
Union City’s eight game winning streak came to an end as they lost to Jonesville 8-7 in 11 innings in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader. The second game was called because of darkness. Connor Elgan collected three hits for the Chargers.
Reading rallied for two runs in the last of the seventh as they defeated Quincy 5-4 in the first game of a scheduled doubleheader. Logan Banks had two hits for the Orioles. The second game was suspended due to darkness in the middle of the fifth inning with the Rangers ahead 17-10. The game is scheduled to be resumed this Friday with the Orioles coming to bat.
Bronson swept a doubleheader from Concord by scores of 6-3 in eight innings and 14-4 as the Vikings improved 7-1 in the Big 8 Conference and 16-2 overall. Ethan Cossairt and Kameron Haviland were the winning pitchers. Hudson Wotta and Brendan Withington both had two hits in the first game while Haviland and Blaine Robinson both drove in two runs. Cody Schwartz drove in three runs in the nightcap.
