RIVES JUNCTION, MI (WTVB) – In girls high school softball Tuesday, Coldwater dropped a couple of Interstate 8 heartbreakers at Jackson Northwest by scores of 12-11 and 11-10. The Cardinals rallied from a 8-0 deficit in the opener as they scored ten runs in the sixth to take a 10-8 lead but the Mounties rallied for the win. Northwest also won the nightcap in the last of the seventh.
The Coldwater JV team split their doubleheader with Jackson Northwest. They lost the opener 13-11 but won the nightcap 15-5. Bailey Burkhardt had three hits in the first game. Autumn Sunderland had three hits in the second while Jasmine Coppess was the winning pitcher.
Union City swept Jonesville in a Big 8 Conference doubleheader by scores of 14-12 and 10-9. Quinn Adams and Allison Adams were the winning pitchers. Lexi Liskovec drove in six runs while Autumn Carpenter had five hits and four RBI’s in the first game. Allison Adams and Emma Elgan both had three hits in the nightcap. Elgan also drove in four runs.
Quincy swept Reading by scores of 16-1 and 12-2. Kelsie Mainstone was the winning pitcher in both games. Mickela Signor had three hits and drove in five runs in the first game. Megan Kirt had two triples in the second contest. The Orioles remain undefeated in the Big 8 Conference at 8-0. They are 12-6 overall.
Bronson split a doubleheader with Concord as they lost the opener 13-3 but won the nightcap 10-2. Aubrey Ballou did not allow an earned run as she was the winning pitcher in the second game. Dekoda Kline and Kaitlyn Czajkowski both had three hits in the nightcap. The Vikings are now 4-4 in the Big 8 and 8-7 overall.
