QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – Classes in the Quincy Community School District had to be delayed for two hours Thursday after part of the roof on the district’s bus garage was blown off during the Wednesday night severe storm which featured near hurricane force winds.
The Branch County Memorial Airport measured a wind gust of 72 miles an hour at 9:15 p.m..
Pictures posted on the districts Facebook page show half of the roof collapsed.
Another part of the roof was blown into the parking lot where it landed near some school buses.
No injuries were reported.
Quincy Middle School Principal Josh Hagerty says no buses were in the barn at the time. At least three buses sustained minor damages but they have been inspected and are being used.
Hagerty says there will be no changes to bus routes or schedules.
The bus garage, which is used for maintenance and not storage, will be out of service until further notice. An insurance adjuster will have to figure up the dollar amount on the damage.
