QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – In high school track and field, both Quincy squads defeated Union City and Jonesville in a Big Eight Conference meet Wednesday night.
Quincy won the boys meet with 58 points followed by Union City with 41 and Jonesville with 38. Quincy winners were Nathan Nohr (1600 and 3200), Trey Watson (shot put), Jonathan Purvis (discus) and Bryce Ruhl (long jump and high jump).
Union City winners were Gavin Hooker (100, 200 and 400) and Chad Bruce (110 hurdles and 300 hurdles). Quincy won the 400 and 1600 relays while Union City won the 800 relay.
Quincy won the girls meet with 78 points followed by Union City with 38 and Jonesville with 21. Quincy winners were Jessica Holcomb (100), Mackenzie Horsfall (200), Harmony Harpster (800, 1600), Makenzie Blatter (3200), Madelyn Allman (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles), Sara Avra (discus), Makinzie Groves (pole vault) and Montana Hindes (long jump).
Lillian Bambacht of Union City won the 400 and the high jump. Quincy won the 800 and 3200 relays while Union City won the 1600 relay.
Bronson and Springport competed at Concord in a Big Eight meet Wednesday. Team scores were not available. Alex VanBlarcom of Bronson won the boys 110 hurdles.
Bronson winners in the girls meet were Joanna Erwin in the 100 hurdles and the 300 hurdles, Madelyn Thompson in the discus, Keona Salesman in the high jump and Alanna Mayer in the pole vault. Bronson won the girls 1600 relay.
