COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The 8th annual Branch County Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence Walk A Mile In Their Shoes last weekend in Coldwater proved to be a great success. The event is the coalition’s primary fundraiser and serves to increase awareness and prevention of domestic and sexual violence.
Coalition Executive Director Kim Hemker told this week’s meeting of the Coldwater Early Bird Exchange Club that considering the chilly weather Saturday and the long list of other things happening across the county that day, she was very pleased with the turnout. She said there were 300 walkers, basically the same as in 2017 while a 5K run-walk attracted 100 runners.
According to Hemker, the preliminary bottom line on funds generated Saturday from sponsors and walkers was a net $40,000, which surpassed last year’s total of $37,000.
