GOBLES, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, Union City won the Gobles Invitational as they defeated Saugatuck 6-5 and Gobles 7-0. Larson Kever earned the win and Connor Elgan got the save against Saugatuck. Kever also added a two run homer. while Garrett Korn delivered the go-ahead two run single in the fifth.
Winning pitcher Colton Johns tossed a three hitter and struck out 13 in the finals against Gobles. Blade Gordon and Grady Kever had three hits while Johns drove in three runs.
Bronson defeated Eaton Rapids 1-0 and Leslie 11-1 to win the Leslie Invitational. Winning pitcher Brett Sikorski tossed a three hitter against Eaton Rapids and drove in the only Viking run.
The Bronson bats came alive against Leslie as the Vikings collected 16 hits. Ethan Cossairt doubled and drove in four runs while Brendan Bell and Hudson Wotta both had two RBI’s. Winning pitcher Kameron Haviland struck out five in five innings of work.
The Vikings are now 18-2.
Quincy defeated Stockbridge 2-1 and the Kalamazoo Cougars 6-5 in nine innings to win the championship of their Quincy All Sports Day baseball tournament. Logan Banks doubled home Trenton Atkins with the winning run against Stockbridge 2-1. Chandler Locke was the winning pitcher. Andrew Abright delivered a walk off single in the last of the ninth of the championship game. Mathew Hagaman was the winning pitcher.
The Coldwater J.V. baseball team lost two games on Saturday at the Parma Western Tournament. They lost 12-2 to Alpena and 7-5 to Ann Arbor Pioneer.
