THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – The Fire Chief of the Fabius-Park Township Fire Department was badly injured and his wife killed when they were allegedly struck from behind on their motorcycles Saturday evening.
The St. Joseph County Sheriff’s Department says it happened at a red light on U.S. 131 at Broadway in Three Rivers.
55-year-old Fire Chief Mike Frye is listed in critical condition after he was airlifted to the Intensive Care Unit at Bronson Methodist in Kalamazoo.
His 66-year-old wife Patricia was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police report the couple stopped at the light on U.S. 131 at Broadway on their separate motorcycles but investigators say the female driver in a minivan behind them did not, and crashed into the couple. The minivan driver could face charges pending the results of toxicology tests.
The accident is still under investigation.
