COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School girls varsity soccer team gave up two late goals and fell at home to Jackson Lumen Christi 3-1 Wednesday night.
Lumen Christi took a 1-0 halftime lead, scoring 7 minutes before the break. Coldwater tied the score with 23 minutes to play in the game on a free kick from Malorie Rzepka. The Titans took the lead for good with eight minutes to play and got the final goal 90 seconds later.
Nadia Kiersey made nine saves in goal as Coldwater fell to 1-5 in the Interstate 8 Conference, and 2-10 overall. They will play Michigan Center Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the first round of the Onsted Invitational.
The Coldwater JV team beat Adrian Wednesday 5-0. Juana Mancera scored 2 goals, with single goals from Megan Barnes, Kaity Meyers, and Madison Hardy. Emily Fagen had two assists, while Kaity Meyers and Jayla Goodwin each had one assist.
Quincy 4, Jackson Christian 1
After giving up a goal five minutes into the match, Quincy scored four unanswered goals as they beat Jackson Christian 4-1 to improv their record to 10-2-1.
Emily Hollenbaugh tied the match with a corner kick. Quincy scored three times in the second half. Hollenbaugh scored her second goal to put Quincy ahead for good. Abby Strock scored the last two goals for the Orioles, who had to play short handed.
