(COLDWATER) – (WTVB) – A break in at Rick’s Party Store and an accident in which a woman drove her vehicle into the Coldwater Walmart Store on Saturday morning continue to be investigated.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department is looking into the break-in at Rick’s which was reported at 7:36 a.m..
A female suspect who was cut then went to the Speedway Service Station at 524 East Chicago. Before police were able to detain her, she drove off.
A few minutes later, her vehicle crashed through the general merchandise entrance at the Walmart store. The entrance was destroyed. The vehicle came to a stop in the area of the pharmacy.
There were no injuries at Walmart. An associate said there was a huge noise when the vehicle crashed into the store and it was scary.
All shoppers had to get into the store through the grocery entrance while repairs were made to the entrance for general merchandise.
The driver was in ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital late Saturday morning. She was expected to be taken to the Branch County Jail once she was released from the hospital.
Coldwater Police are investigating the Walmart incident.
Meanwhile, the glass that was broken out of the front door at Rick’s was later replaced and business at the store was back to normal by mid morning.
