COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Sherwood woman was ordered to serve 38 months to 10 years in the Michigan Department of Correction Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after she entered a no contest plea to second degree child abuse.
35-year-old Katrina Black was originally charged with four counts for alleged sex crimes involving a 14-year-old girl.
In exchange for her plea, prosecutors dismissed two counts of first degree C.S.C. as well as a charge of accosting a child for immoral purposes. Black was given credit for 111 days already served in the Branch County Jail.
She must also register as a sex offender with the State of Michigan.
Her 32-year-old husband Clyde is a co-defendant in the case. He has been charged with four counts of first degree criminal sexual conduct and is scheduled to go on trial June 12th.
According to court documents, the Blacks were arrested following a Michigan State Police investigation into accusations they allegedly tried to teach sex education to the girl in the case.
