COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater captured the Interstate 8 track and field championship for a second straight season Tuesday as they finished first in the conference meet, which was held at Cardinal Field.
After going undefeated in dual meets during the regular season, the Cardinals won the conference meet with 140 points followed by Harper Creek with 111 and Marshall with 73.
Coldwater thrower Dylan Targgart broke the school record he set in the shot put earlier this season by an inch. The new record is 61 feet, 6 ½ inches. Targgart also won the discus. Other Coldwater winners were Shuaib Aljabaly (800, 1600, 3200) and Adam Bailey (300 hurdles). Ben Fagen, Mohamed Saleh, Kyle Foulk and Aljabaly teamed up to win the 3200 relay.
Girls Track—
Coldwater finished second in the final Interstate 8 standings as Harper Creek edged the Cardinals by two points to win the league meet and wrap up the conference title on Tuesday night at Cardinal Field. Harper finished first with 118 points followed by Coldwater with 116. Marshall was third with 63.
Coldwater winners were Elka Machan (3200), Kaci White (shot put, discus) and Claire Sheppard (high jump, long jump)
