CONCORD, MI (WTVB) – Quincy High School’s boys and Springport’s girls captured Big 8 Conference Track championships Wednesday at Concord. After going unbeaten in conference dual meets, the Quincy boys wrapped up the title with a first place finish at the Conference meet. Quincy had 137 points followed by Concord with 103 and Jonesville with 87.
Union City was fourth while Bronson was eighth.
Quincy winners were Nathan Nohr (1600), Jonathan Purvis (shot put and discus) and Bryce Ruhl (high jump, long jump). Quincy’s 400 relay team (Bryce Ruhl, Devan Fisher, Luke Rufenacht and Ryan Gibson) finished first. Gavin Hooker of Union City won the 200.
One five points separated the top three teams in the girls meet. Springport finished first with 96 points followed by Quincy with 94 and Bronson with 91. Union City finished eighth.
Quincy’s Emily Hollenbaugh won the high jump. The Orioles won the 400 relay (Madelyn Allman, Emily Hollenbaugh, Jessica Holcomb and Mackenzie Horsfall) and the 1600 relay (Madelyn Allman, Harmony Harpster, Mackenzie Horsfall and Emily Hollenbaugh).
Bronson’s Jenna Salek won the 400. Union City’s Bracy Swift won the long jump.
