COLDWATER LAKE, MI (WTVB) – A Fort Wayne man and his teenage son were injured Monday afternoon in a jet ski accident on Coldwater Lake, south of Coldwater.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says their Marine Patrol was dispatched when the 47-year-old father was jumping waves from other watercraft. After hitting the third wave, he lost control sending him and his son skipping across the water.
The Sheriff’s Department says the operator of the jet ski was going at least 48 miles an hour when he the waves and lost control.
The father was taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment of seven broken ribs.
His 13-year-old son was evaluated for injuries at the scene and released.
Lifecare Ambulance and Lakeland firefighters assisted the Sheriff’s Department.
