COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Bronson man was arrested after being chased on foot by Coldwater City Police, who said the suspect was found drunk and drinking alcohol in his car which was parked at Walmart early Wednesday afternoon. The 20-year old was taken into custody east of Walmart in a wooded area behind the Phoenix Building on US 12.
Branch County 911 Central Dispatch was called about the situation and officers dispatched around 1:30 pm Wednesday. The suspect was booked at the Branch County jail on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated high blood count and 2 counts of resisting and obstructing.
According to police, the man’s preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol count of point .188. The threshold for a so-called super drunk designation is a BAC of .17 and above. The PBT is not admissible in court with the formal charge requiring the test results from a hospital administered blood draw.
The suspect’s name is being withheld pending his arraignment in District Court.
