COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Private donations will allow for additional hours during the week by the Branch County Marine Patrol on Coldwater Lake.
Sheriff John Pollack told the Branch County Board of Commissioners Thursday that the Coldwater Lake Association has raised the money for Marine Patrol officer wages.
He said lake association members wanted additional patrols because they were concerned about the happenings on the lake between Monday and Friday.
Pollack said two officers would be performing the weekday duties.
The donated money would be placed into a line item called “contributions, public organizations”.
Pollack said the Coldwater Lake Association would like to start the weekday patrols as soon as possible. He added they have sufficient people to cover this.
Commissioners voted to suspend the rules and bring the additional marine patrol matter forward as an action item during next Tuesday’s meeting.
