ANGOLA, IN (WTVB) – A three year old boy was rescued from a house fire early Thursday morning west of Angola, Indiana but three police officers were injured trying to save the youngster.
WANE-TV reports firefighters were called to 4275 County Road West 100 North at around 12:30 a.m..Angola Fire Department Public Information Officer T.R. Hagerty said officers from the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department, the Angola Police Department and the Indiana State Police were first to arrive and were injured trying to save the youngster from the single-story home.
All three were taken to Cameron Hospital in Angola.
There was heavy fire throughout the house. Hagerty said the boy was found in a bedroom that had smoke in it but no fire.
The unidentified youngster was then first taken to Cameron Hospital before being transferred to a Fort Wayne hospital.
The fire was put out rather quickly. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
One other person in the house was not injured.
