COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Board of Directors approved the utility’s 2018-2019 fiscal year budgets Thursday.
Director Jeff Budd said they were budgeting for flat revenue in the electric fund but it’s in good shape.
The telecommunications budget had a slight deficit of over $15,000 as the Skitter TV service gets underway.
Budd said the big item in the wastewater fund is the expense for depreciation because of improvements they have had to make at the plant as well as in their collection system. He mentioned once again that a new wastewater treatment plant will have to be needed sometime in the future.
The water fund showed proposed revenues exceeding expenses by nearly $546,000. Budd says there is adequate capacity at the plant and no significant improvements are planned. He pointed out that in the budgets, surpluses are always used for capital improvement needs.
