COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Police are looking for a man after shots were fired Wednesday morning into the Clemens Food Group Welcome Center on North Michigan Avenue which was occupied at the time by employees and civilians.
No injuries were reported. It was not immediately known how many people were in the building at the time of the shooting.
Coldwater Police say the suspect fired several gun shots at the front of the building at about 10:20 a.m.. The type of handgun he used is unknown. The suspect was described by witnesses as a black male wearing a white shirt who had longer style hair.
The suspect vehicle was reported to be a late model Jeep Cherokee, possibly a mid 2000’s model that was either grey or silver in color. Its last known direction of travel was north on Michigan Avenue.
The Hope Network Rehabilitation Center next door as well as a vehicle in the parking area were also struck by gun shots from the suspect.
The Branch Area Careers Center and Branch Intermediate School District offices were put on lockdown after the incident. Quincy Community Schools put their summer students into a lockdown as a precautionary measure until they were dismissed for the day.
