COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Porter Skidmore was named the Most Valuable Player on this years Coldwater High School baseball team during their post-season banquet on Wednesday night.
Zach Rigot won the leading hitter award with a .411 batting average. He also received the Most Valuable Pitcher award. Other awards went to Bryce Lafferty for Most Valuable Offensive Player, Oliver Winter for Most Valuable Defensive Player, Austin Roby for Most Improved Player and Jaxon Janusz won the Mr. Hustle Award.
Skidmore and Lafferty earned first team Interstate 8 All Conference honors while Rigot earned an honorable mention. Skidmore and Lafferty also earned All District honors from the Michigan High School Baseball Coaches Association.
Rigot, Skidmore, Winter, Lafferty, Lucas Santure and Janusz made the Interstate 8 Academic All League team
Rigot earned Academic All District, All Region and All State awards from the Michigan High School Baseball Association.
Winter, Santure and Skidmore were recipients of $250 each from the Gary Spangler Memorial Scholarship Fund.
