UNION TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says seatbelts worn by the occupants of two vehicles prevented more serious injuries in a crash Monday afternoon at a Union Township intersection which injured two Las Vegas residents.
The Sheriff’s Department says the crash happened at about 2:15 p.m. at the intersection of Girard and Burlington Roads.
They say a vehicle driven by 34-year-old Jeremy Malone of Sherwood failed to stop for a stop sign and crashed into the passenger side of a vehicle driven by 75-year-old Roger Carr of Litchfield.
Union City Fire and Life Care Ambulance treated 75-year-old Paul Sanger and 70-year-old Karen Sanger who were passengers in the Carr vehicle. Both were transported to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
The Sheriff’s Department says Malone was cited disregarding a stop sign and having no license on his person.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Life Care Ambulance, the Union City Fire Department and nearby neighbors.
