GIRARD, TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A rear end collision on Marshall Road near Krystal Lane in Girard Township sent one of two drivers involved in the accident to Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall Sunday afternoon.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Department says the accident happened at about 3:50 p.m. when a full size pickup truck driven by 22-year-old David Storm of Hastings was unable to stop and crashed into the back of a mid-sized van driven by 34-year-old Courtney Moore of Homer. Moore’s van was one of three vehicles that stopped for another vehicle that was turning left onto Krystal Lane.
The impact sent both vehicles to opposite ditches with significant damage to the pickup truck.
A local nurse, Marshall Ambulance Service, and Coldwater Fire Department treated an injured driver before that person was taken to Oaklawn Hospital. A Sheriff’s Department news release was not clear as to which driver was taken to the hospital.
Storm was cited for failure to stop assure clear distance, causing an injury accident. Alcohol and drugs were not factors in the accident and all of the occupants wore their seat belts..
