COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater will once again host the American Amateur Baseball Congress Mickey Mantle Baseball Regional tournament, which starts at 10:00 a.m. Thursday morning at both Lowe and Borden Fields.
Nine teams will be divided into three pools for the opening two rounds of the tournament Thursday.
The host Coldwater Redbirds will play two games Thursday at Lowe Field. They will face the Michigan Red Sox at 3:00 p.m. and the Niles Braves at 8:00 p.m..
The top two teams in each of the three pools will then face other in crossover games on Friday with the top four teams out of those six squads then moving onto the semifinals which will start at Lowe Field at 5:30 p.m..
The teams that finish third in their pools will play consolation games Friday.
The tournament championship will be held at Lowe Field starting at 11:00 a.m. Saturday.
The regional championship team advances to the national tournament in Waterbury, Connecticut which starts July 25, 2018.
