LANSING, MI (WTVB) – Five new Michigan State Police troopers will be assigned to the Marshall Post after Thursday’s graduation ceremony in Lansing for the 134th Trooper Recruit School.
The State Police are adding 107 new officers to their ranks.
There are now 1,269 troopers assigned throughout Michigan.
The graduates began training in January when 152 prospective troopers reported to the MSP Training Academy in Lansing.
Over the last 26 weeks, recruits were trained in various areas including firearms, water safety, defensive tactics, patrol techniques, report writing, ethics, cultural diversity and implicit bias, first aid, criminal law, crime scene processing and precision driving.
In order to be selected to attend the academy, all applicants had to pass a stringent selection process that included a physical fitness test, background investigation and hiring interview.
