CLARENCE TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – An Eaton Rapids man is in custody following a home invasion and sexual assault early Friday morning in Calhoun County’s Clarence Township. The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office says a former boyfriend of the alleged victim was arrested near Jackson and was lodged in the Calhoun County Jail.
Deputies say the suspect broke into a home in the 22000 block of 29 ½ Mile Road by forcing open a window.
A 28-year-old Springport woman awoke to the suspect standing near her bed. The suspect then damaged the victim’s phone so she could not call for help and then allegedly assaulted her.
The victim was able to flag down a passing car and call 911 for help. The suspect is being held for sexual assault and home invasion.
