COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s been so dry around the Branch County area for the last three weeks that when scattered showers moved in Monday, it took many by surprise. And some heavy winds accompanying a second band of rain midafternoon also took down some tree limbs.
The first line of scattered showers watered down parts of the Coldwater area late morning, with the second and more intense band moving in around 3:15 p.m.. Winds took down tree limbs onto power lines at Hoff’s Vegetable Farm just north of Coldwater on Old US 27, as well as at the AYSO Creal Soccer Complex at State and Marshall Streets on the city’s northside.
The rain guage at Hoff’s showed almost one inch of preciptation during the brief but intense thunderstorm.
Thunderstorms and a 90% chance of rain are back in the forecast for Friday. The normal rainfall total in July for the Coldwater area should be four inches.
