COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater City Police say a Coldwater man was arrested yesterday afternoon after allegedly assaulting a woman in connection with a car-bicycle injury accident.
Police say a Chevrolet Blazer driven by 26-year old Donna Landis of Coldwater was southbound on Avery Drive and had stopped at the intersection with East Chicago Street. According to officers, 72 year old Julie Firlet of Coldwater was riding her bike on the Chicago Street sidewalk when she fell off the bike after being bumped by the Blazer.
Police said Firlet’s husband was walking with his wife when the incident happened around 1:20 p.m. Wednesday. Witnesses told officers the man got upset and went to Landis’ car and reached through the driver’s window and allegedly punched Landis in the face.
Police say Landis suffered a cut lip but refused medical treatment.
The suspect’s name won’t be released until after his arraignment in Branch County District Court.
