COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The committee working in support of the upcoming jail millage proposal recently received a monetary show of support.
Representatives of the Branch County Deputy Sheriffs Union and the Branch County Command Officers Association presented checks totaling $150 to jail committee representative Cisco Ortiz during Thursday’s Branch County Board of Commissioners work session. Both donations were given in acknowledgement of the commissioners’ pledge to utilize funds that would be saved from future jail maintenance to restore road patrol deputies that had been elimiated years ago due to budget shortfalls.
The 20-year, 1.25 mill proposal would build a replacement for the current Branch County Jail if approved by voters during the August 7th primary election.
