COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – City of Coldwater Police have accused a Coldwater man of multiple felonies after he allegedly started a Facebook relationship early this year with a 15-year old girl.
21-year old Tyler Caldwell has been charged with four counts of criminal sexual conduct third degree and one count of promoting and possession of child sexually abusive material.
Coldwater Police say the girl’s mother discovered her relationship with the suspect in April 2018 and obtained a personal protection order against Caldwell. According to police, the reported victim was 14-years old when their online relationship began and included the exchange of nearly 20,000 messages along with sexually explicit pictures.
Caldwell was arrested July 19t and arraigned the next day in Branch County District Court. He’s being held on $100,000 bond with a probable cause hearing scheduled for July 31, 2018.
