COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners Tuesday approved a request from Veterans Affairs Office Director Charles Scott to sell a 30-foot fifth wheel camper which was donated by a local couple last year.
The camper was supposed to have been used for veterans in need of temporary housing at Messenger Lake on a lot that was donated last year by the Branch County Parks Board.
But Scott pulled the camper due to several issues. Scott said on Monday that the B.C.V.A. was unable to keep up the lot due to a lack of employees and he could not babysit who was coming and going.
The camper will be sold through Haylett R.V.. Proceeds from the sale will be deposited into the Veterans Affairs account.
In other business, commissioners approved an $11,200 line item transfer request from Sheriff John Pollack for uniforms and additional weapons for the new employees and to have on reserve.
And due to a couple of conflicts, commissioners agreed to reschedule the September 20 work session to Friday, September 14 at 9:00 a.m.
