COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A Coldwater man was ordered to serve between 79 months and 10 years in the Michigan Department of Corrections Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered no contest pleas to three child sex abuse counts.
24-year-old Brandon Michael Biggs entered the pleas to charges of distributing and promoting child abusive material, having child sexually abusive material and assault with intent to commit sexual penetration.
All of the sentences are to run concurrently. Biggs must also register as a Michigan Sex Offender.
Two counts of using a computer to commit a crime and a child abuse count were dismissed by prosecutors in exchange for his pleas. Biggs was given credit for 166 days already served in jail.
Biggs was arrested in March at his home on Harrison Street following a Michigan State Police investigation.
He was charged with committing sex crimes with an eight year old girl for six months and then sharing pictures of the incidents online. Police say Biggs shared the photos to interested parties online by using the phone app known as Kik.
The child was placed in a safe environment by Branch County Department Human Services-Child Protective Services.
