COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – An Algansee Township man was ordered to serve five years of probation and register as a sex offender in the State of Michigan Monday in Branch County Circuit Court, after he entered a guilty plea in a child computer sex crime case.
21-year-old Anthony Alan Bais-Adams admitted his guilt to a charge of being in possession of child sexually abusive material as part of a plea bargain with prosecutors. He was arrested last January at his girlfriend’s home in Quincy following a Michigan State Police investigation.
In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed a charge of using a computer to commit a crime and the sentencing enhancer of being a second time habitual offender.
Bais-Adams was also given a one year jail sentence with credit for 216 days already served.
During his probation, he can not be in possession of alcohol, drugs or weapons. He must also submit to searches without warrants and undergo testing and treatment as required.
State Police say their Computer Crime Unit began to investigate Bais-Adams in August 2017 after they got a tip. They said at the time of his arrest that they seized a computer which contained photos of underage females engaged in sexual activities.
