COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – So far in 2018, over 6,400 households have been helped by the Branch Area Food Pantry. Now the Food Pantry will be able to do even more for the community.
The Women Who Care of Branch County organization met Wednesday and awarded the Food Pantry $11,000. A presentation was made on behalf of the Food Pantry before the vote was made to award the money. 110 woman each wrote a check for $100 for the donation.
Close to 4,000 food boxes have been passed out so far in 2018, with 144 volunteers providing the labor. The Food Pantry also coordinates the Feeding Branch County food giveaway project during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season.
Women Who Care of Branch County meets every quarter to donate funds to local charities. This was the 18th meeting for the group since 2014.
The group has given over $167,800 to various community organizations since that time.
