COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It’s back to the classroom today for students in the Coldwater, Bronson and Quincy school districts after an 80 day summer vacation.
It’s the second year of a three year waiver from the State of Michigan that allows those three districts along with the Branch Intermediate School District and Pansophia Academy to start classes before Labor Day.
A total of 141 districts around Michigan are starting classes before the Labor Day this year which is a substantial increase from last year.
A state law was passed nearly a dozen years ago which banned school districts from starting classes before Labor Day without a waiver.
Students in the Union City School District still have a couple of weeks of summer vacation left before classes for them start on September 4, 2018.
